Hello from Gothenburg, Sweden!!

Hello everyone from Gothenburg, Sweden!!  Or, more directly, Gotenborg, with two little dots over the 'o.'  I always wanted to tour in Scandinavia but we haven't been here long enough to learn the difference between the krona and the kroner and the water with or without bubbles and the sausages and cheeses and football clubs and all the knowledge you HAVE to have to survive in Northern Europe.

Despite all this, here is the new kakiking.com website in god knows how long.  Yes, it's pretty typical: shows, music, photos, links, etc., but the content here will be exclusive and not available on mybebofacespaceliketumblriflikribook.  All of that content will be updated regularly, but this is the place for exclusive shizzerstuff. As well as twitter:  @kakitwit.  I'm always bullshitting about something.

ATTN:  this is not bullshit.  We (yes, the royal we, but more specifically myself, Dan Brantigan, and Jordan Perlson made a record together and it's called 'Junior' and we) are releasing it on Rounder Records in the US on April 13.  GET EXCITED!

File 98So, how is everyone?  I feel like I haven't done a major blog in ages. Even though this is bound to be a tedious text about touring in the EU, remembering that Switzerland is not part of the EU (such a dubious history, I must say), getting fined and taxed about a trillion eurosohaveyoubits by accident in CH, sucking the lifeblood out of such an amazing crowd in Rome and getting invitrovino in return, pushing into the lives of a beautiful (and how well dressed) crowd in Milan, crossing through the alps (taxes and fines paid in full) and playing to small but beautifully generous crowds in Switzerland, loving andliving every single show in Germany (every bone of your precious cities made us feel amazing, but Cologne, you were the only one to  show up in a trench coat with just ladies lingerie underneath. Despite the fact that you're a 60 year old man. To this end we love you even more).  Endless speeches . . .  [I have discovered the beauty of Deutsch in one regard: where there are two words, just make one. Or three for two, or four for three]. Saving space in Der Spiegel or just creating long words thatmakenosensewhatsoeverbutwhenlinkedtogethermakesense is practical but does not make you more intelligent or philosophical. Get that through your Teutonic heads and we'll get along just fine.

Now, my lack of knowledge in syntax and punctuation would horrify my mother and a good deal of intelligent people that I've slept with.

Yet, I go on.

Seriously, Germany/Deutschland you were very good sehr gut to us and we can't wait to wrap up our tour there in a few days time. Until then, We must go to Denmark.  Land of Hamlet.  We are playing at the Loppen  and hope that all the amazing Danes can meet us there in Copenhagen. Otherwise we will have nothing to do but buy a lot of porn (in addition to the porn we already bought AT EVERY TRUCK STOP IN EUROPE) and add to the collection that we will one day prank the hell out of Jordan and tape 10 pieces of naked Euro ladies to every drum head and cymbal he has (as opposed to the gig in Adelaide, where our porno to equipment ratio was about 2/1.)File 110

Although in my extensive months of depression in the fall included long stints of watching every episode of 30 Rock ever, this tour promises that I no longer have to laugh alone.  In fact, I can laugh with other people in a van with a highly educated sound system to any quicktime in creation.  Send in your suggestions (@kakitwit).

Did we mention we got entirely lost on the most gorgeous fjord today? We were in Norway, so I suppose we were lost on the landmass between fjords, which must be common when you have absurd amount of fjords, but it was still breathtaking.  That leads me to the amazing Kate Havnevik who played before us in Oslo.  She's such an amazing person and an amazing friend, a breath of fresh freezing cold snap you awakeNorwegian air.  She played an amazing show and I can't wait to see her again.  .

Not to be forgetful, but the incredible Tamar Eisenman played with us in Hamburg

And further back but never forgotten is the unbelievable Anna Calvi who played with us in the UK.  Holy crap i'm out of a job . . .  Anna we all love you.

Yesterday we ate a lovely lunch in Oslo.  Outside the restaurant we passed a pair of twins.  They must have been in their 70's, but they were dressed in the same exact clothing, same scarf, same coat, shoes, bags, etc., walking arm in arm. Their mother must have been a fucking tyrant.

Darlings it's late, and I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the Danish play:

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."

Thank Shakespeare, Darwin, and Dawkins.

Love to you all!!!!
